Established in 2005, St. Mary Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church is one of the largest Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Churches in the city of Edmonton serving a large and increasing number of followers. Currently there are more than 350 registered and dozens of unregistered members who come to church to receive a wide range of spiritual, social and community services. Overwhelming majority of the church members are Canadians of Ethiopian and Eritrean origin and all of whom self-identify as Black Africans.
Ministry
The primary goal of the church, as a faith-based organization, is to promote and advance the teachings of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. Apart from expedite ways to propagate the gospel, the church provides various social and community service and activities to its black community members.
"Behold, from now on, all generations shall call me blessed, for He, who is mighty has done great things for me." (Luke 1:48-49)
