What are our challenges, at the end how will we overcome them

Overall living in the western world it’s difficult to balance the spiritual and flesh world. The main thing which helps us and guides us is the will and grace of the holy spirit. Coming here to Canada for the manny was a long difficult route once here life is practically the same just subtract everyday social gatherings. Since the global pandemic hit the world in March 2020 the church was a place of community where many come and meet their friends and families they have not seen in a while, which now was almost 2 years. Not only that our country was hit in many Strafe by famine and civilian conflict and at the hall the church was, and still is the glue to our social fabric to the whole Ethiopian society. Where ever part of the world where we Ethiopians chose to settle and call home we all do have a piece of Ethiopia living amongst us and it’s in our churches, the replica of the ark of the covenant.

To have this church and call it our own was a long difficult road but now we are all happy because we have a place where we can produce the next generation of leaders for our church and for the community we reside in. There were many who started in this marathon but a few who finished crossing the finishing line, for our church the marathon never ends; it’s a relay race, with time passing our knowledge must be passed down investing into our youth so that they may repeat the course over to their children unto their own. This church bought was because the older generation all died out and they had no one attending their daily or weekly masses which caused their compound to cease to function. Hold this to our hearts we all must see this and learn from our predecessors who use to reside here so that we may not make the same mistakes as they did in their past.

• YOTC Canada Organizes monthly conferences with manny different ethiopian community across canada and the states where we all gather and sing hymns and learn a sermon according to the events taking place hopefully children will see this and hop onto the waggon and participate in the ZOOM sessions posted in the viber group chats.
• Children over the age of 13+ who are interested may join and talk to the organizers on what they may at least contribute to make our city stand out.

As part of our Sunday school programs, children and youth are also given valuable spiritual and social skills which help them as a valuable life skill as they grow up. In addition to biblical lessons and the teachings of Ethiopian Orthodox, children are taught valuable lessons about the Orthodox Tewahedo Faith, heritage and traditions so that they can be confident in who they are, where they come from and ultimately be resilient for any spiritual, psychological and social challenges they might face as they grow.
